In this post, I am reviewing an option for making money by sharing your opinion on Slicethepie.

Description
Slicethepie is an online platform that pays you to review “new songs, fashion items, accessories and commercials before they are released. Your reviews go directly to unsigned artists/fashion designers etc. to give them feedback”. The site also says, “You also help us to find the best brands and artists to put forward for radio placement and other opportunities.”
Cost
It is free to join. The email address you use to sign up needs to match your PayPal email address so that you can get paid. You will also have to provide your date of birth.
Platform
Reviews are done using a web browser. I was able to complete reviews on both a PC laptop using Firefox and an iPad using Safari. The site says Android & iOS apps are coming soon.
Time
The length of time that it takes to do a review depends on how long it takes you to form and opinion and type it up. However, you must listen to at least 90 seconds of a song to review it. There is a progress bar that tells you when you have written enough for your review.
Pay
Pay varies from review to review. I signed up on 4/27/19 and immediately began making money. This was exciting, but anticlimactic as the earning which started out at around 25 cents began to decrease to only 1 cents. However my competitive side was peaked as the change kept racking up.
The FAQ section of the sites says, “Some categories will pay more than others, depending on what is priority. We’ll let you know what is paying more when you reach the category page. You can always change what you’re reviewing by clicking on Review in the menu bar at the top of the page.”
There is a star rating system which the site explains is “a measure of the quality of your reviews, compared with all other reviewers. The more Stars you have the more you’ll earn!”
You can also earn money through referrals. You earn 20% of their review earnings for 60 days and 10% after that.
Payment Method
Slicethepie pays through PayPal. The minimum withdrawal is $10 and PayPal payments take up to 5 working days to process as they read all reviews before paying out. Payments are made on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Ease of Use
It is very easy to sign up and get started.
Pros
Earning money starts immediately!
Cons
The earnings rate is very low, ranging from 1 cents to 25 cents per review. It would take 40 reviews to make the $10 payout minimum if they were all paid at 25 cents and 1,000 reviews if paid at 1 cents.
The FAQ section gives this statement on how to get paid more:
“Your payment per review is based on your Star Rating and the quality of your review. You can earn more by submitting detailed, varied and constructive reviews in well-written English. The better your review, the bigger the bonus payment. We are encouraging scouts to leave detailed reviews and will reward them for their time/effort!”
The earnings seem rather random. Although my reviews were the same length my earning varied from 1 cents to 25 cents. At first I thought it was they type of review as my 1 cent reviews were about patterns on cloth. Then I did a music review that gave me only 1 cent after my previous reviews were more int he 25 cent range. I’m wondering if it matters how critical you are. This wouldn’t make sense because it would lead people to give bad ratings to earn more money. As I continue to use the system, I will take note of the difference in earning between my positive and negative ratings.
Overall
I feel that I need to continue to use the system a while to get a handle on how to earn more. The system is quick and easy to use but the earnings are low. It will take some time to earn $10 at the payrate and still more time to wait for the payout. Although if you have some free time, even earning a penny is better than earning nothing. After all, pennies to make dollars! But this will definitely not help you make a lot of money quickly.
